"JOURNEY PROUD"

And . . .  we are off.

A very dear friend of mine's mother, Patricia Greene termed this phrase "JOURNEY PROUD" to mean a condition of anticipation and  a sleepless night that one experiences right before a journey.  I have been "journey proud" for a few months to say the least.

As many know, we have waited on the Captain's (Alan) retirement before embarking on our "boat ride".  The time is now!

We have already cruised 1300 miles with only 4700 to go to finish the Great Loop (google it) and earn our Gold.  Presently we are departing Jacksonville, where we have made our home for the last two years at Ortega Landing Marina and where we have survived two hurricanes, Michael & Irma.

We have also spent the last 2 years preparing for this trip. (see 1st blog) I'm sure the captain has different stories than the 1st mate (that would be Sherry, aka Admiral)

But, the last 2 months have been the busiest.  Retiring, selling cars, getting house secure, mail forwarding, packing for 9 months only to name a few.  Saying "goodbye" to dear friends and family, many of whom we will not see for 9-months.

Tonight is our last night on land for a while, Ortega is hosting a St. Patrick's day steak party by the pool.  After all, it is 80 F. here.

Meanwhile on Sea Jamm, Alan and I toast our send away with his favorite cocktail: Sea Jamm's rum punch, with a shot of Jamaican rum, puerto rican, 1 shot of coconut rum mixed with orange & pineapple juice with a splash of aromatic bitters.  Serves 2.

Tomorrow: Brunswick Landing Georgia

Sea Jamm

Leaving Ortega at dawn.  Jacksonville skyline.
