New Jersey: Cape May and the Atlantic Crossing

May 15th Tuesday
Arrived Cape May, NJ
Utsch's Marina

Cape May, the oldest seashore resort in the US, has so much Victorian charm. And so much shoreline. Although it is not yet the season, the beaches are beautiful. And it also remains an active fishing center for tuna, marlin and lobsters. And it boasts many seafood restaurants, including the popular Lobster House!

One of the first things we did was bike to the beach, about 1.5 miles from our Marina where we are docked.

I chatted with a nice gentleman on the beach with a lovely purple cap.

Scallops at the Lobster House.  Thank you, Pam, for your recommendation.

Lots of Victorian style in the town.

And lots of Victorian style on the Sea Shore.

Later, that evening we had a docktail party on Sea Jamm for the Loopers at our marina and for the local harbor host, Bruce and Buffi Miller. They have a local dockside grille called FishCakes where they serve breakfast and lunch over weekends. They brought fresh hot sugar donuts for everybody. So delicious. They also left their truck for anyone who needed to go to the store or run errands. Great harbor hosts!

Even more Loopers enjoying docktails underneath shelter between rain.

Then it started to rain. The wind howled! And it rained and rained. For 3 days.

Finally we found a weather window and "it was good."

SEA JAMM passing Atlantic City.  Looks like we are racing that barge to our port.  The resort in the background is the former Revel, now renamed Atlantic City Ocean Casino Resort and due to reopen in June.  That round white object is supposed to be a "pearl," but it just looks like a golf ball to me!
