Seeing South Carolina

Wednesday, 6th of April
Lady's Island Marina
Beaufort, SC

We left the Isle of Hope before 7 this morning trying to beat the bad weather.  We traveled over 50 miles and made it before 10:30, in time for a Huddle House breakfast across the street.  (Alan was missing his Fiesta Omelet).    C Pearl goes fast and smooth.  For which I am most happy.  And, by the way, no bad weather as predicted.

Thursday was a day for Sherry to shop in the historical town center of Beaufort.  It was about a half-mile across this bridge.

I can never remember how to pronounce Beaufort.  The difference is that Beaufort SC is pronounced "BEW-fert" (as in beautiful).  Beaufort in NC is pronounced "BOH-fert "(as in Beauregard).  Ironically, both are named for an Englishman, the Second Duke of Beaufort, who never came to either North Carolina or South Carolina.  He didn't know what he missed!

In Sea Jamm, you could always spot us from the shore.  Not so with C-Pearl.

Except in this next picture.  Find us in the center.

My good-looking Captain.  He took me out for porkchops this evening.  $5 a plate!

By the way, everybody comments on his Georgia cap.  Especially since the Dawgs put us on the map this year!

Friday, 8th of April

St Johns Yacht Harbor, Savanah

No restaurant.  Sherry actually had to cook.

On our cruise from Charleston to Georgetown.  We decided to let this big boy have the right of way!

Saturday & Sunday, 9-10 April

Hazzard Marina, Georgetown, SC

Happy birthday to Maggie & Molly!  #29!!

A little bit of Key West in Georgetown.

I love the historical little old town of Georgetown.  Everything is waterfront and walkable.

I've never seen so many ferns growing in the trees before.

In 1940, this oak was considered to be about 500 years old. Circumference approximately 23 feet. I couldn't get any closer without trespassing.  Not my day to get arrested.

Meet the Reverend, Captain Bob.  He lives on his sailboat and preaches when he gets the opportunity.  For his next adventure, he plans to go to Central America to rescue orphan girls.

I

Uh-Oh.   Alan spots a project.   I don't think so!!

And on this Palm Sunday, as we start Holy Week, I found this on a side door to someone's home.

They would lay down their palms,
He would lay down His life.
A lot can change in a week. Bob Goff

Monday, 11th April

Osprey Marina, Myrtle Beach, SC

Happy 3rd birthday Catherine!!

WELCOME TO North Carolina!  We are making wakes!!
